Why we are building Takits

Takits is the clipped form of kitakits — "see you there" — the word that ends most event invitations sent in this country. It is also the name of an AI Assisted Event Ecosystem we are building for Philippine events, and this is the short version of why.

The problem is not the event page

Every organiser here already has an event page. It is a Facebook event, or a Google Form, or a poster with a QR code on it. That part works.

What does not work is everything around it. The registration list lives in a spreadsheet. The door is a volunteer scrolling that spreadsheet on a phone. The show rate is a guess that decides the catering order. Certificates go out a week late from a template someone made in Canva. Feedback is a separate form nobody reconciles. Sponsors get a report assembled from screenshots. And the next event starts from zero, because none of it was connected to anything.

We know this because we have run it that way. Gen AI to Z put 795 registrations through a Google Sheet and 341 people through a door staffed by three volunteers. It worked. It should not have been that hard.

What Takits is

One place for the lifecycle of an event, built around the moments that actually decide whether it works:

• Registration that is free for free events, asks the questions the organiser needs, and holds a waitlist instead of turning people away.
• A door that scans, finds people by name, admits walk-ins, and keeps working when the venue wifi dies — on a phone, with a four-digit PIN.
• The show rate, shown honestly, because it is the number that decides the room and the food.
• Certificates that are verifiable by code, revocable, and available through the configured delivery path after attendance.
• Feedback on the event page itself, one tap, anonymous.
• A calendar people can subscribe to, so the next event turns up without an email.
• Share cards that can actually be read in Messenger, because that is where Philippine events travel.

Underneath: an organiser dashboard, an exportable list, a public host page, and the discovery layer — city pages, categories, search — that Facebook events never gave anyone.

What it is not, yet

It does not take money. Paid tickets, GCash and Maya, sponsors and invoices are a later phase, deliberately. The plan is to learn the product on free events that cannot hurt anyone, starting with our own — Vibe Coders PH sessions, UP EMC² forums, a pickleball open court — and only then open it to organisers we do not know.

It is also not finished. The version number in the footer is below 1.0 and will stay there until the first real event has run end to end on the platform.

Why "AI assisted"

Not because a chatbot writes your event description. Because the boring parts — reconciling a list, drafting the thank-you email, predicting a show rate from the last five events, turning a feedback dump into three sentences a sponsor will read — are exactly the parts a model does well and an organiser does at midnight. That layer comes once there is enough real event history to make it honest.
